Rocketmen Coaches

Rob Powell brings over thirty years of coaching experience to the Rocketmen. He started coaching boys basketball and baseball at Sayville Middle School in the late 1980s and continued coaching a diverse set of boys & girls basketball teams across Sayville and Bellport public schools to present.

Rob coached the Long Island Panthers AAU basketball teams with Gary Charles, during which time they coached now-former NBA players Zendon Hamilton, Wally Szczerbiak, Mike James, Rafer Alston and Lamar Odom.

He was elected to the South Country Central School District’s Board of Education in 2009.

Rafyel "Raffi" Flippen currently works at the Bellport Boys & Girls Club as the Athletic Coordinator.  He works with a diverse set of children of all ages to engage them mentally and physically, providing coaching for sports and life.  Raffi has been training kids in basketball for over 6 years with some great success stories including a recent Bellport Senior named All Long Island and Player of the Year, finishing his high school career with 2000 points and 1000 rebounds.

Raffi is a co-founder of the I Dream Athletics organization in 2009 which provides basketball skills training to develop aspiring basketball players for the mental and physical part of the game.

Scottie has coached for 10 years at many different levels. He is a local business owner who has dedicated is time and energy to helping kids and the community. He grew up in a Basketball family, his father coached Patchogue Varsity Team for over two decades.
